My name is Melissa and I’m a TV writer starting a fashion and lifestyle blog.
So why am I starting yet another fashion and lifestyle blog?
It’s way overdue, honestly. I should have started writing a blog years ago but I was writing a lot of other things and I didn’t take the time. And I regret it because fashion, beauty, shopping, introducing people to brands - these are all passions of mine. In person, I’m frequently complimented on something I’m wearing, what bag I’m carrying and often asked ‘Where did you get that?’
(I’m going to have to take more photos now… I’m a behind the camera kind of person so bear with me. I’ve also been working from home for a while 🫠)
So I figured it was about time to share my love of fashion, beauty brands, places to shop and tips and tricks with everyone else, all in one place.
What kind of topics and articles can you expect from me?
I’m a meticulous shopper with pretty high standards. That’s not always going to spell luxury items and high prices. I’m one of those people who believes there’s a big difference between being fashionable and being stylish. I have a strong sense of personal style which means I look for items for very specific and different reasons, be it second hand and thrifted or something to buy new.
I also believe in sustainability and educating people about how you can make wardrobe changes sustainably. Fast fashion has created more waste than I think any of these companies could have imagined. If you’ve ever held on to things you used to own or acquired something second hand from the 90s and early 00s, you’re in luck because they’re still quality items that can be worked with.
I don’t only buy in the U.S. There’s a lot of amazing companies all around the world and you’d be surprised how economical it can be to get them here. I’ve found some of my favorite brands and companies through traveling for my work in film and TV (and my life travels, of which there are plenty of too). It’s exposed me to innovative designers and companies doing amazing things.
Lastly, I’m a bit of a risk taker. I love to try new things (within reason) and when I find something great, I want to share it with everyone. I want them to get from what I do. So while I’m also a brand loyalist, I hope to be turning you on to some new things that I’ve found to be worth it.
